Luke Jephcott says that his future with Swindon and Plymouth is up in the air

Luke Jephcott says he has no real idea about what club he will be playing for until the end of the season. Total Sport’s Joe Acklam spoke to the on-loan striker ahead of the Grimsby Town clash.

Jephcott has five goals from 16 appearances since joining Swindon Town on loan from Plymouth Argyle on deadline day, although he last found the back of the net in Swindon’s 5-2 win against Mansfield in October.

Town had an option to make his stay at the County Ground a permanent one this month, but as yet have not activated that clause and the striker said his future was unclear.

Jephcott said: “Your guess is as good as mine at the minute [over where he will be at the end of the window]. I think it is all up in the air, but I am trying not to think about that at the minute.

“I am just playing my football and then we will see what happens.

“So far it [playing for Swindon] has been a good fit for me, I have been enjoying my football here, playing a good amount.

“But like I said it is all up in the air at the minute, I just want to focus on playing and then look at what happens at the end of the season.”

Jephcott said that players are used to change and the departure of former-head coach Scott Lindsey to Crawley Town earlier this week did not disrupt their preparation.

He said: “It can be difficult, but I think that it is part of the job and change can happen.

“We try to not worry too much about outside news and stuff like that and just focus on the training.

“We are still adjusting to it, for me, he [Lindsey] was here when I came in and we don’t know exactly what is going on with the manager.

“But it has been a good week of training and we have all prepared ourselves really well for the game this weekend.

“It can be the same for players, one minute we are playing for one team and the next we are somewhere new.

“For me I have made lots of friends here and it could be that one minute you are here and the next it could all change.

“I think everyone knows that people moving on is something that comes with the job and you certainly learn that as you get older.”
