Louis Reed leaves Swindon Town to join play-off rivals Mansfield Town for an undisclosed fee

Swindon Town midfielder Louis Reed has joined fellow League Two side Mansfield Town for an undisclosed fee. Total Sport’s Joe Acklam reports on the transfer.

The 25-year-old reunites with his old manager Nigel Clough at the One Call Stadium, who he used to play for at Sheffield United.

Reed joined from Peterborough in August 2021 and would be named Players’ Player of the Season during his first campaign at the County Ground.

The midfielder made 60 appearances during his 18 months with Swindon, scoring five goals, including a timely late winner against Barrow in the penultimate game of last season to put Town on the verge of the play-offs and a brace in the FA Cup First Round against Crewe Alexandra.

Mansfield are one of Swindon’s promotion rivals in League Two this season, with Nigel Clough’s side sat ninth in the table, two points behind Town.

A statement on the club website read: “The football club would like to take this opportunity to thank Louis for all his efforts during his time with us, and wish him all the very best for the future.”
