Routes to Employment

The Routes to Employment team works on behalf of all young people aged between 13 and 19 in Swindon, and liaises with many different professionals, services, and agencies.  

The team plans, co-ordinates, implements, supports and advises on work which supports all young people’s participation and progression in learning and other activities which help personal and social development. It also ensures that the Council meets it's legal duties, and the needs of young people, by responding to statutory guidance from Government.

There are many options open to you when you finish your GCSEs. You could choose to carry on studying some subjects you already like, or take a vocational qualification or an apprenticeship. Click on the links below for helpful information on the available options:

Get your career going with an apprenticeship, work experience or traineeship in England. There are up to 28,000 apprenticeship vacancies at any one time in 1,500 different job roles from nuclear to fashion in prestigious companies all over the country. You can earn whilst you learn and even get a degree. If you're not ready for an aprenticeship yet, why not try some work experience? It’s a great chance to learn new skills and get some experience on your CV.
