Easy Breezy Décor Updates to Make to Your Bedroom this Summer

Have you noticed how ‘easy’ decorating tips normally include something like re-painting an entire room or hand-sewing a pair of Roman blinds? Easy indeed...

Well, we’ve put together a list of genuinely easy décor updates you can make to your bedroom to get it ready for summer. From simply switching the upholstery, putting in commercial glass doors to treating yourself to a pair of gorgeous new curtains, here are some easy breezy tricks for breathing new life into your bedroom.

Buy new bed sheets

There’s nothing nicer than white 100% cotton bedding, especially when it’s been washed and fixed to the washing line to dry… in fact, when bedding has been dried outdoors it seems as though summer has been infused into the fibres of the bedding, making your bed smell incredible when you snuggle down for the night after a refreshing shower!

So, treat yourself to new crisp white bedding and a lightweight summer duvet and make the most of the good weather. If you prefer colour or pattern to minimalist neutrals, consider buying bed linen with floral prints, tropical prints or holiday-inspired patterns.

Switch up your throws & cushions

Why not use summer as an opportunity to switch up your throws and cushions? Many of us keep heavy weight wool or faux-fur blankets at the foot of our bed in the winter months, but now that it’s warm you can get rid of them or replace them with lightweight linen or cotton blankets. New scatter cushions will be a lovely treat for summer too, so look for ones with vintage floral prints, interesting lace detailing or stick to something simple and cheerful such as gingham.

Hang new curtains

Similarly to your bed sheets and blankets, your current curtains are properly better suited to colder months than the lovely summer months you’re about to enjoy. So, take down those heavy, double-lined curtains and swap them for something lighter. You could hang beautiful made to measure curtains having commissioned them in your favourite colour, fabric or print. Or, you could simply hang some translucent white drapes to allow the morning light to wake you gently each morning.

Lay out a new rug

With warmer days around the corner it’s probably time to remove that tired old rug too. But unless you’re someone who enjoys the cool sensation of walking barefoot across the floor during summer, you’ll probably want to replace your rug with a new one. Treat yourself to a little cheerful yellow number, or perhaps a rug with a nautical stripe for real easy-breezy summer style.

Introduce flowers and greenery

There’s no quicker or easier way to brighten up your bedroom for summer than introducing some beautiful blooms in your space, so why not head down to your local market and pick up a bunch of flowers? Whether you prefer delicate flowers such as sweet peas, insta-worthy flowers such as peonies or something punchier like a vase of sunflowers, adding flowers is bound to make your bedroom look lovely.

Make the most of your bedside table

Finally, make the most of your bedside table by getting it ready for all the things you want within easy reach during the summer. Make room for a pretty glass tumbler to keep hydrated during the night, a bottle of moisturiser to cool sun kissed shoulders, and a space for your favourite summer reads – these essentials will really help you to enjoy spending time in your bedroom.
