November Talk with Robert Young

November is here, the year is coming to an end and Q4 is well under way. What’s the temperature of business in our community and beyond? Today we’re talking to Swindon-based Robert Young of Asset Guardian Wills Ltd which offers will writing, preparing and registering of Lasting Power of attorney documents, pre-paid funeral plans & probate services.

What’s your business highlight for November 2021?
I suppose it’s more of a sales offer! If you take out a pre-paid funeral plan, you get a FREE Will (Standard plan and above).

And what about a personal highlight this month?
Exceeding my sales targets!

November represents Movember – Men’s Health Awareness Month. Does this resonate with you? 
I did Movember around eight years ago and raised over £2k. I really didn’t like having a moustache, however it is all in a good cause.

November 13 is World Kindness Day – has anyone shown kindness to you recently? 
I popped into the local shop to buy some milk, I didn’t have my wallet, just some loose change, however it wasn’t enough, so a lady kindly gave me 10p. 

It’s also Black Friday on November 26 which is now quite mainstream – do you participate in this within your business? 
We did try and do any offer a few years ago, however nothing came of it.

Have you got any events planned for November or December you’d like to shout about? 
I’m attending the PPS accounting firm’s business lunch on the 10th November and there is also the Asset Guardian Christmas do on the 18th December (we are going to Bath to watch Rugby and of course have a few beers) – so one more business focussed and one more social.

And finally: 

A Will is not a legal requirement, however not having one in place can cause grieving families a lot of stress. It is also there for protection especially when you have a complication family situation including having children from previous marriages.
