April Talk with Kelly Swingler

It’s April, the second month of Spring and we hope you all had a fantastic Easter break. We’re catching up with some business owners this month to see how things are looking for them during this month and today we're talking to Kelly Swingler of Kelly Swingler, Executive Coach to Professional Women who want to eliminate burnout and guilt. Kelly lives in Peterborough but supports women across the UK .

How is April looking for you in your business?
April is turning out to be a great month. On April 1st I spent the day with Rosie Parsons for my new headshots and in the evening, I worked with Rosie and my designer Kayleigh Lloyd talking all things business.

My new book Mind The Gap goes to my editor this month ready for publishing in July, the cover looks fantastic, and I cannot wait to see it all coming together.

My signature programme Core-Led Women: Programmed for Success relaunches this month which I am really excited about and ticket sales end at the end of the month for my June event Power Up.

There are a lot of exciting things happening, and I will also be working with some brand-new one-to-one coaching clients which is always great.

Are you taking part in any wider events or business collaborations this month?
On April 14th I chairing a roundtable for the Women’s Business Club talking about how to move from 'Burnout to Balance' and I will be delivering talks to three client companies during April, about Core-Led Leadership and my experience of burnout.

This month it’s Stress Awareness Month, what does stress mean to you?
High levels of prolonged stress can lead to burnout and a lot of my work helps to eliminate burnout by reducing stress all my helping women to lead from their core.

One in three women are currently considering leaving their roles because of burnout and 57% of women are struggling to ‘switch off’ as they fear in doing so this will impact their career progression.

This clearly is not sustainable, and a large part of my work is helping women to make changes that are sustainable and that help to eliminate guilt and burnout.

In 2017 I was asked to author the book What’s Your Excuse for Not Overcoming Stress and I was chosen because of the practical ways that I help people to reduce stress in their lives.

What we need to be conscious of is that a lot of people are experiencing stress and burnout currently because of world events and increased workloads.

My hope is that employers really listen to their people this month and do not just use the awareness month as a marketing tool to showcase their brand.

Is it your business’s birthday this month or an anniversary of any kind?
My younger brother celebrates his 40th birthday on April 28th, so we will be celebrating with him before he moves away for his new role. It will be nice to spend time together as a family. I had big plans for my 40th birthday and then lockdown in 2020 saw my plans go out of the window, so we cherish family moments and enjoy them as much as we can.

Did you know that April 28 is Pay It Forward Day? Do you 'pay it forward'?
I like to pay it forward as much as I can all the time throughout the year, be it gifts, supporting others, charity donations etc.

Have you got any special offers that you’d like to mention?
Whilst Power Up tickets are still on sale this month (ending 30th April), there are group discounts available for three or more people. It is going to be such an incredible event.

In May I will be opening the doors to my Be Your Own VIP Membership Community where new members will be able to join for £1 for the first five days and then £49 per month thereafter. The community includes a live coaching and connection call once a month, plus, a library of resources to help women take time out, develop and lead from their core.

And finally:
Since my burnout in 2013 I have been studying, researching, and learning what led me to burnout and how I can help clients to prevent this for themselves.  All my work is now about helping women to lead from their core for a happier and healthier life and career.
