It turns out that in the era of the gig economy, even people who don’t have a second (or third) job still end up feeling like they are doing more work when they get home from their day job.
Over 40% of workers feel like they have a second, stress filled job when they get home and have to perform chores. It was revealed by Hoppy in the Happy Home study that more than a third of us (36%) find running our home equally or more stressful than our daily job.
The things that people find most stressful include the lack of storage space (30%), needing to update the home (22%), and the lack of help from other adults with household tasks in the home.
If you feel like you’re fighting a losing battle when it comes to a stress-free home, then here are a few ways to help you get on top of the chaos:
1. Divide and Conquer
Everyone in the house should share the load and take on different jobs in the house, so divide up the chores for everyone and trust them to get the job done.
2. Let Technology Help You
Leverage technology to help free your mind of your daily tasks. Use websites, calendar or an app to alert you when a chore needs doing.
3. Be Realistic
Finally, keep your expectations realistic and accept some clutter if it means spending quality time with your family or friends.
