SWINDON EXPERT TRAINER IN SPORTS SCIENCE SUPPORTS UK’s No 1 LONG JUMPER TO UPSKILL!

Dawn Morse, founder of training company Core Elements, has recently worked with Britain’s top long jumper Feron Sayers teaching him the art of dry needling.

The 42-year-old, who ran the University of Bath foundation degree in Sports Therapy at Swindon College for nine years and who now runs her own accredited Level 4 & Level 5 Sports and Remedial Massage courses across the UK, welcomed Feron to her recent course in Swindon.

Feron, 24, was the first British boy to jump over seven metres aged just 14. Today he’s the UK’s number 1 long jumper and he’s in the top ten in Europe. In 2018 he jumped over eight metres and almost reached that personal best early this year. He’s currently working towards selection for the Tokyo Olympics team next year.

Dawn is one of the UK’s leading trainers of dry needling – a technique using small needles to ease muscular pain. The needles attempt to release tension and knots in pressure points – as opposed to acupuncture which focuses on the nervous system. Dawn and her team run an accredited Level 5 Certificate In Dry Needling course over two days. The course is designed for qualified professionals working within therapy, in injury treatment or rehabilitation treatment. The next Swindon course takes place again in October and in December (the former is sold out).

She said: “I was delighted that Feron wanted to come along to learn a new skill and to really understand the benefit that dry needling can bring to any elite athlete, professional therapist or professional sports coach or trainer.”

Dawn is well known in the South West as a leading trainer in sports massage and sports therapy. She has a Master’s degree in Sports and Health Sciences, a post-graduate certificate in further and higher education has lectured in sports science and therapy for over ten years.

Today she runs her local courses from Jury’s Inn, Swindon throughout the year for small groups of individuals who wish to work in the sector and improve their skills. She also works from other bases including Exeter, Plymouth, Liverpool.

Dawn’s company, Core Elements offers a range of training programmes for professionals including:

  • Levels 3 & 4 in sports and remedial massage therapy
  • and sports therapy based courses such as:
  • Level 5 certificates in electrotherapy, manual therapy and dry needling
