Snapped: Swindon Dance Honoured with High Sheriff Award

On Friday, 6th March Peter Addington presented Swindon Dance with a High Sheriff of Wiltshire Award.

The local dance school was awarded the honour in recognition of their longstanding artistic and community work in Swindon. 

The award was also presented to the BIOS Van project – a van that engages with young people in Swindon through a fully customised mobile youth club.

The post of High Sheriff is a ceremonial one, and is traditionally the Sovereign’s representative in the county for matters of law and order and the judiciary.

It is the oldest secular office in England and Wales after the Crown and modern High Sheriffs still have a close relationship with judges, magistrates, the police, the coroner and the probation service.
