If you are single and the thought of cuddly toys, chocolate hearts and declarations of love seems just too much to bear – you are not alone.

Friday 15th February is Single Awareness Day celebrated by all who are not involved in a romantic relationship. A recognition of love between family and friends opposed to a significant other.

The Finnish, however, take it to a whole new level where Valentine’s Day is called Ystävänpäivä, which translates into “Friend’s day”. An occasion devoted to remembering the love we share between our extended families and significant others. Because at the end of the day “friends are the family you choose” it is essential to show them some appreciation.

Because love should not be restricted to those we are romantically connected with. So, share yours with someone who needs it this Valentine’s Day/Friends Day or Single Awareness Day.
