Scramble to Raise Funds for Young Cancer Patient

Hairdressers Chris Miller and Vikki Holland took part in the Wiltshire Scramble with a group friends recently to raise funds for brave infant cancer patient Reece Barends.

At just 9 months old Reece was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma, a rare form of cancer which hinders the development of the nervous system and other tissues.

Since his diagnosis Reece has undergone surgery to remove a tumour from his spine but his parents Ashleigh and Stuart are now facing huge bills for his treatment. 

Stuart and his wife moved to Cape Town in South Africa from Swindon in 2012, and are now relying on the fundraising efforts of Ashleigh’s former colleagues at Toni & Guy Swindon and the genorosity of others to help them through this hard time. 

Despite being given initial estimates of around £8,500, the bills are starting to escalate. Unfortunately Stuart has had to put his career on hold and Reece has been put on a special diet to support his body - which is very costly. 

As well as the Wiltshire 12k Scramble, Chris Miller and Vikki are also planning a series of further events over the summer.
