Review: Environ Skin Scan

TGtS's Beauty Editor, Emily Griffin has been finding out the truth about her skin with some help from Bloomin Beautiful's Environ Skin Scanner. Here is how she got on...

When the lovely ladies at Bloomin Beautiful invited me along to one of their Environ Skin Scan events I was intrigued to try it out. No having experienced a skin scan before, I was interested to know what it was all about - and being held at Bloomin Beautiful I knew it would be good.

My skin history is somewhat, shall we say colourful? Having suffered from various skin complaints, and spent time living in a hot and humid country, I knew my skin would not be the porcelain perfection I longed for. The aim of a skin scan is to look deeper into the skin and then customise a skin care routine. 

When I arrived at the salon, I was introduced to Sophie, who works for The International Institute for Anti-Aging. Sophie is based in the South West and regularly visits Bloomin Beautiful to offer complimentary skin scan sessions to their clients.

First off, Sophie explained exactly what the skin scan was. So, what is the Environ Skin Scan? Well it is a Visia Complexion Analysis machine, which enables the technician to identify and confront client’s skin concerns. They are able to look at skin conditions such as; sun damage, blocked pores, broken capillaries, hyper pigmentation, wrinkles and much more. This enables the beautician to help address the concerns and recommend appropriate products or offer skin care advice.

Sophie was really friendly and extremely knowledgeable. Having been a regular at the GWH dermatology department for several years, it always pleases me to speak to someone who really knows their stuff. I was given a full consultation before we did the scan. To give the best advice, Sophie needed to know a little about my skin history including any allergies and medical conditions.

I rested my chin in the machine, and hoped for the best! I was pleasantly surprised to see that my skin wasn’t quite as awful as I had been dreading. Sophie showed me several images which depicted my moisture levels, bacteria levels, pigmentation and sun damage. It was fascinating to see the images. My moisture levels were good, my bacteria levels low and my sun damage was, well it was to be expected!

Sophie went through the results with me and was able to recommend a full Envrion skin care regime to tackle my skin concerns. For those of you not familiar with Environ, it is a ‘cosmeceautical’ skincare range based on vitamins and antioxidants combined with an advanced nutrition programme of Skin Specific supplements. Their aim is to help feed the skin internally – not just externally.

The skin consultation was followed by an amazingly refreshing and relaxing mini moisturising facial. This was the perfect way to end the consultation and left my skin feeling soft, supple and regenerated.

I really enjoyed my skin scan and I thought Sophie was brilliant. Having someone go into the finer details of skin care, with the knowledge she processes, was really helpful. She was able to give me some very good advice. I would really recommend a skin scan session at Bloomin Beautiful to anyone wanting to refine their skin care regime and find out more about their own skin.
