Healthy Lifestyle Programme for Young People Set to Start

Young people will be able to pick up handy hints about healthy eating and nutrition as three lifestyle programmes start this week.

MEND (Mind, Exercise, Nutrition, Do It!) is a free 10-week programme run by Swindon Borough Council, for five to 16 year olds who are above a healthy weight.

Participants and their parents and carers, learn about healthy eating and nutrition and also have the opportunity to try a variety of activities using the council’s leisure centres and community centre facilities.

The weekly class for five to seven year olds starts on Wednesday 23rd January between 3.45pm and 5.30pm at the Oasis Leisure Centre, finishing on Wednesday 17th April.

The MEND class for seven to 13 year olds starts today (22nd January) at the Link Centre and will run until Thursday 18th April. This class is currently full, but spaces are available for the next programme starting in May.

MEND Teens starts today at Stratton Community Leisure Centre between 4.00pm and 6.00pm and runs until Wednesday 17th April.
