Kelly Wilson Nail Training Academy - Where it Started

Specialising in the training and development of accredited Nail Technicians, Kelly of Kelly Wilson Nail Training Academy is a highly qualified and passionate educator, with almost 20 years of experience as a self-employed Nail Technician. Here's how she was inspired to start in the industry!

So, why did I go into Nails? Going back 21 years, I was in a boring job and every year I went through the college prospectus to see if there were any evening courses available that I might find interesting.

I decided to do a massage course which I loved, but I was always getting nagged by the tutor to cut my nails. So once I had finished and passed the course, I decided to treat myself to some Nail Enhancements.

The Nail Technician came to my house and created the nails for me. During the time I asked a lot of questions as I found myself quite intrigued, yet she seemed reluctant to tell me anything which I found a sightly puzzling. When she had finished I wasn't overly happy with the Nail Enhancements and finished them myself. Therefore I decided that I could do much better and booked myself onto a nail course.

My first practice client was a male friend of mine who had severely bitten nails. For a challenge, I created him some very short extensions with the hope it would stop his nail biting habit. 20 years later he has nice manly nails, and I have a successful business!

The memory of the Nail Technician being unwilling to share information has always been in the back of my mind; I believe this experience has inspired me to always share my knowledge and experiences, and move onto teaching and helping others to learn.
