Hare’s the News from Mad March Hare

Hundreds of walkers, runners and joggers took part in the 8th Mad March Hare event in West Swindon on 22nd March this year. As usual, it was fun and colourful and the weather was even kind!

The total for this year’s event is a hare raising £9000, taking the overall total since 2007 to an outstanding £87,082! A massive thank you to all the eventers, sponsors and volunteers!

Since the first Mad March Hare, fundraising has been in aid of the charity Breakthrough Breast Cancer. In April this year, the charity and Breast Cancer Campaign merged to form the largest breast cancer charity in the UK – Breast Cancer Now.

The charity’s new name and identity, which was unveiled on 15th June, conveys the urgency required to stop women in the UK dying from breast cancer. It has vowed to fund the brightest researchers from across the UK and Ireland to see its vision realised.

Despite impressive progress made through research, the UK still has one of the worst survival rates for breast cancer in Western Europe. Breast Cancer Now seeks to unite everybody touched by breast cancer to ensure that this is the generation which finally puts an end to the disease.
