New College enters virtual world for May Open Event

New College Swindon may be physically closed to most learners, but it is still planning to reassure students of all ages that advice and guidance is on hand to help them with their next steps.

The College will be holding its first ever virtual Open Event on Thursday 21st May between 10am-6pm, with a live chat session between 4-6pm.

This event is open to anyone of any age; whether they have already applied to New College for September or have yet to decide their plans. Information will be available on all courses and levels, including: A Levels, GCSEs and vocational courses for Pre-16s and school leavers; higher education and degree-level courses; part-time, leisure and professional courses for adults; Apprenticeships and more!

Visitors will be able to view video content, photos and information from a wide variety of course and subject areas. There will also be the opportunity to speak to staff via a live chat system between 4-6pm.

Amanda Walton, Head of Marketing and Customer Services at New College Swindon said: “We feel it’s really important that we continue to provide advice and support for prospective students during this pandemic. This is especially true for Year 11s who will make the transition to College or sixth form this September, but we will have plenty of courses for adults. We have worked very hard to put together something that’s as visual, informative and useful as possible; many of our staff members have created video content and it’s been a real collaborative effort. The live chat session will mean that students can have their questions answered on the spot by staff.”

For anyone that cannot wait until May 21st and wants to apply to New College now, applications can be made online. Visitors are asked to pre-register for the virtual event by visiting newcollege.ac.uk
