Wyvern Review: In The Night Garden
Total Guide's youngest recruit and critic Florence Hutchings thoroughly enjoyed her first trip to the Theatre to see the Wyvern's enchanting production of In The Night Garden. Take a read below as we give our review following our magical adventure with Igglepiggle and friends.
The second the curtain rose, we entered the magical Night Garden with all the characters the children love and know so well. Squeals of delight greet the appearance of Igglepiggle as we joined him in the search for his friends.
All the favourite children-tv characters were brought to life by the actors and the skilled puppeteers who were brilliant from start to finish. The scenery was enchanting and very cleverly designed with some stunning video backdrops.
The highlight for the children was definitely when the Pinky Ponk flew out over the auditorium. It was both magical to watch the Pinky Ponk and also to observe the reactions of the children to this wonderful event happening before their eyes.
Florence was entranced and she sat captivated for entirety of the show which is quite something for an exuberant 2 year old. Her critique of the show was "More. I love it!" and we certainly can't wait to take her to The Wyvern's panto this Christmas!
Introducing young ones to the delights of live theatre is hopefully an experience which will encourage a lifelong interest in this genre of the arts. It ignites sparks of imagination within them and is a far more social experience then watching television or playing computer games.
Thanks again to The Wyvern who continue to delight us with the range of productions they stage.
