Take a Trip Down the Rabbit Hole as Open-Air Theatre Returns to Lydiard Park

Families can once again experience open-air theatre in the beautiful surroundings of Lydiard Park this Friday (2 August).

An open-air production of Alice in Wonderland will be played out in front of the historic Lydiard House by Immersion Theatre, described as one of London’s most exciting and innovative theatre companies.

Theatre goers can follow Alice and the White Rabbit as they set off on a colourful, topsy-turvy adventure before meeting a host of outlandish characters including the troublesome twins, Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee, the notorious Queen of Hearts, the Cheshire cat and of course, the Mad-as a bat-Hatter!

Immersion Theatre will bring Lewis Carroll’s classic to life with the audience having the opportunity to meet the characters after the show.

The performance includes live music and lots of audience interaction, ensuring it provides the perfect evening out for the entire family.

The gates for the performance open at 4.30pm, and the performance starts at 5.30pm.

Lasting approximately 100 minutes, the performance includes a 20-minute interval.

Councillor Russell Holland, Deputy Leader of Swindon Borough Council, said: “Lydiard Park has been hosting open-air theatre performances for many years and they have become a highlight of the summer holidays.

“Alice in Wonderland is a popular show that all the family can enjoy and this promises to be a fun evening in an atmospheric setting.”

There are still some tickets available and they are on sale via the website www.lydiardpark.org.uk or by calling 01793 465270.

Adult tickets are priced at £14, while a child ticket (for children aged between three and 15) costs £10. A family ticket (two adults and two children) is priced at £42. A 10 percent discount is available for parties of 10 or more.

Car parking is available at Hay Lane and Hook Street entrances, but parking charges apply.
