Snapped: Royal Opera House's Live Broadcast of La Boheme

Swindon culture vultures were in for a big treat last thursday night. Despite a chill in the air we were entertained by the most wonderful performance of Puccini`s La Boheme beamed live to Swindon`s Big Screen from the Royal Opera House Covent Garden. All the cast were outstanding - a wonderful flirtatious Musetta and a heart-rending Mimi. However, for me, the stars of the night were Josef Calleja as Rudolfo and the wonderful orchestra. Terrific live entertainment was also provided in the intervals with a particularly spirited version of The Toreador Song and a mellifuous performance of Gershwin`s Summertime. The organisation of the event was superb and I can only thank all those involved in bringing this to Swindon`s Big Screen - especially `In Swindon` - how lucky we are to have this facility here in town - looking forward to many more.
