Snapped: RAF Red Arrows Fly into Town
RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire was on red alert on Wednesday afternoon for the Media Launch of this year’s Royal International Air Tattoo.
This summer will see the RAF Red Arrows return to their first home – RAF Fairford – for the UK’s biggest public celebration marking their 50th display season.
On Wednesday, June 4, 80-year-old Henry Prince, a member of the very first RAF Red Arrows team, joined the legendary aerobatic display team at RAF Fairford for the official Media Launch.
Back in 1965, in their first display season, the Reds flew 65 shows across Europe with a seven-aircraft formation of Gnats. Two years later two more aircraft were added, enabling the team to develop their famous ‘Diamond Nine’ formation.
