Prime Theatre is Swindon’s only professional theatre company.
Prime Theare Swindon make professional productions for children and young people that tour schools and venues across the UK.
The organisation runs Prime Youth Theatre for 150 young people aged 5-25 years, who enjoy weekly workshops learning acting techniques and other theatre skills.
Projects and workshops are also available for local schools and community groups, whether linked to the curriculum or for personal development.
Prime Theatre Swindon is based at the Wyvern Theatre but can also deliver projects in other venues. As a charity, it receives funding from both Arts Council England and Swindon Borough Council.
Prime Youth Theatre (5-25yrs)
The only youth theatre in Swindon linked to a professional theatre company that has ongoing support from Arts Council England. Prime Theatre train young actors, writers and technicians. Weekly workshops are led by professional tutors, directors, actors, writers and designers. It's based at the Wyvern Theatre where most of the workshops and rehearsals take place. They increase confidence, communication and creativity. Many ex members work professionally in film, theatre and TV while others use their drama and performance skills in everyday life.

Digital Youth Theatre Price per 5 Week Blocks:
- £25 for your first strand (Digital Makers is £30) and £10 for additional options
- Play Reading, Industry Q&A's and Digital Summer Showcase are free to all members
- 1 free initial strand (worth £25/30) for Deaf Young People or a Swindon Borough Council Looked After Child/Care Leaver

Digital Youth Theatre strands:
Social Drama: Hang out and have fun. A mix of energizing drama games and improvisation exercises. A playful online performance space to make new friends, create, chill out and unwind.
Scripts & Skills: Creating characters & performance practice. Have fun bringing scripts to life. Each week you’ll try new techniques and dive into different scenes and a range of roles that will improve your acting ability.
Audition Experience: Prepare for professional training. Thinking about drama school or college? Explore a selection of speeches, choose your own monologue and learn how to approach it for the best possible audition.
Shakespeare Masterclass: Become best buddies with the Bard. Hugely enjoyable and essential exercises for understanding Shakespeare’s speeches. Play with prose and verse with the guidance of professional actors and directors. Block A only
Writers Pad: Unleash your imagination. For those new to creative writing or those with more experience. A chance to build your script writing skills and hear actors bring your words to life.
Digital Makers: Create digital content in a variety of roles. Work as an individual and as a team responding to a series of creative briefs. Storyline, script, stage, shoot and edit a variety of online challenges. For actors and others. 90 mins sessions.
Play Reading: Explore classic texts and modern hits. Boost your knowledge of plays and playwrights. Travel through time to explore a series of specially selected scripts. Read a wide range of roles or just listen if you like. Scripts available in advance. No preparation required.
Industry Q&A's: A direct line to those working on stage and screenYour chance to ask questions and be inspired by a range of actors. 30 minute sessions. Block A includes Mark Gatiss, Jodie Prenger, Jo Joyner, Emma

In Prime Theatre's safe and supportive environment, young people develop theatre techniques, learn how to express themselves, grow social skills and empower their creative voices.
Prime Tutors are professional creatives who specialise in training young people. All staff have DBS checks and regular safeguarding training.
Mark Powell – Artistic Director: Trained at Rose Bruford College of Theatre & Performance & Birmingham University. Mark is a director & writer with credits including Salisbury Playhouse, National Theatre, the egg & Birmingham Rep.
Laura Jasper – Associate Director: Trained at Bristol Old Vic, SITI Company (NYC) and The Acting Corps (Los Angeles). Laura has worked across the UK as an actor, theatre practitioner and director for Bristol Old Vic, Nottingham Playhouse, Salisbury Playhouse, The Globe, Frantic Assembly
Helen Morley – Young Director: Helen trained in English & Theatre at Warwick University. Her theatre company, Reactivist, presents work across the country including the Vaults Festival, Edinburgh Fringe & the MAC Birmingham.
