Make the Most of a Cold Rainy Day with a House of the Dragon Viewing Party

Autumn in Swindon is an amazing time with so much to do from pumpkin picking to catching the latest show at the Wyvern Theatre, but Autumn also brings a few cold, rainy days were venturing outside seems like a chore.

To make the most of the next rainy day, cuddle up and watch HBO’s House of the Dragon. Make an event out of it by throwing in a bingo game and curating the perfect drink for you and your friends to enjoy.

House of the Dragon Bingo Card

House of the Dragon is a prequel to the much-loved series Game of Thrones, set around 200 years before Daenerys Targaryen vows to take back the Iron Throne. This thrilling series has released all 10 episodes of its first season and can now be enjoyed in full by you and your friends for a first, second, or maybe even third time for the true George R.R. Martin fans. To add even more fun, play Express VPN’s Bingo Card game featuring the best themes from House of the Dragon and follow their Targaryen family tree if you are finding it hard to decipher between Aegon and Aemond. The bingo card features tropes such as ‘two dragons fight’ and ‘2+ platinum wigs on-screen.’ Anytime this happens, you must cross off a square and take a sip.

The Perfect House of the Dragon Cocktails

To play by the rules of the House of the Dragon bingo game, you’ll need the perfect cocktail for you and your friends to enjoy. Enter: the Blood of the Dragon, a sweet, yet herbal warming punch of rum, lemon juice, rosemary and thyme simple syrup, and honey.

To make this, you will need a 750 ml bottle of dark rum, 15 oz of lemon juice, 10 oz of rosemary and thyme simple syrup, and 5 oz of honey. To make the rosemary and thyme simple syrup, combine 2 parts white sugar, 1 part water, 1 sprig of thyme, and 1 sprig of rosemary in a large pot and bring to a boil, then let it stand until cool. Next, combine all the ingredients into a punch bowl with ice and guests can ladle it into their chalices to enjoy. If the day is especially cold and you’d rather have a warmer cocktail, try Cookie + Kate’s mulled wine recipe and sip like the characters from the show. Start with a bottle of Merlot, Zinfandel, or Garnacha, 2 small oranges, ¼ cup of brandy, 2 tablespoons of maple syrup or honey, 2 whole cinnamon sticks, 3-star anise, and 4 whole cloves.

Cut one orange into rounds and one into halves. Place the rounds into a pot and squeeze the juice from the halves into the pot. Pour the wine, brandy, and maple syrup or honey into the pot. Add the cinnamon sticks, star anise, and cloves. Heat over medium heat until steaming for about five to ten minutes and enjoy.

Time to Party

Next time the forecast calls for rain in Swindon, grab your friends to play and sip along with HBO’s latest ground-breaking series, and don’t forget the bingo card!
