Review: Mouth-watering buffet from Hospitality Services
Hospitality Services are Wiltshire’s largest independent corporate and private caterers, providing the highest quality food, service and equipment hire. This week the team at Total Swindon were asked to sample one of their outstanding corporate buffets and we certainly weren’t disappointed.
The typical stigma attached to buffet food is quickly-made comfort food that often lacks in taste and appearance. However Hospitality Services showed how a buffet lunch can be as exciting and delicious as a meal out at a restaurant.
Arriving at midday, their wonderful team set-up our buffet lunch in our boardroom, and it’s safe to say that when we were called through to tuck-in, we were amazed at the vast variety of colourful and delicious dishes on offer.
With over 10 different individual food items to choose from there was something for every member of the Total team to enjoy, with a great selection of exciting vegan foods also included that even the meat-eaters amongst us devoured with joy.
After deciding what foods to sample first, my plate was stacked high with a king prawn twist, duck and hoi sin roll, coronation chicken sandwich, and a vegan kebab topped off with a refreshing mint yoghurt.
It certainly wasn’t your typical every day lunch, but my plate represented exciting tastes from the different continents around the world, with every mouthful guaranteeing an explosion of flavour.
The duck roll was visual perfection, and the beautiful crisp pastry that encompassed the fresh duck meat centre made it a delicious snack to sample.
Next up was the vegan lamb kofta kebab, and I was honestly awestruck at finding out it was meat-free because the kebab tasted so succulent, fresh, and unlike any vegan dish I have ever tasted.
The king prawn twist was delicate on the pallet and you could taste the freshness of the fish which often isn’t the case with buffet meals. I finished up with the coronation chicken sandwich and the curry pakora, both of which were exquisite and jam-packed with flavour.
The pakora was lightly spiced, very aromatic and served with a range of sauces that helped to magnify the bold flavours of the Indian snack.
Upon consuming the entirety of my plate, I still - just about - had room for dessert which was a dark chocolate caramel bar, miniature cheesecakes and exotic fruit platter.
Dark chocolate occasionally leaves a bitter taste in the mouth, but the caramel bar combined with the chocolate beautifully to satisfy my sweet tooth. I finished off my lunch with a few slices of fresh watermelon to cleanse the pallet and sat back down at my desk feeling refreshed after the perfect lunchtime delicacy.
Priced at £14.90pp (+VAT), Hospitality Services four person buffet lunch breaks the norms of your standard finger food platter with their unique range of dishes making every dish an exciting experience and one we would wholeheartedly recommend to businesses or event hires in and around Wiltshire.
