REVIEW: Al Fresco Lunch at Swindon Marriott
It was time to get the whole of Team Total together for our Quarterly Meeting, where we discuss how we can make Total Guide to even better. But, it being a gorgeous June day in Swindon, we decided to go al fresco and enjoy some lunch at Swindon Marriott’s sun-drenched Cast Iron Grill.
Getting out of the office is important if you want to take a step back and clear your head. Stopping your day-to-day duties for a little while to think ‘big picture’ helps keep your eyes on the prize and makes us keep our site users in the front of our mind.
Swindon Marriott’s combination of meeting rooms and dining facilities was a perfect location to balance a day that mixed a creative ideas session and spending a bit of time relaxing and just chatting as a team.
Once the meeting was done we decided it was far too nice a day to be sat indoors. Luckily, Swindon Marriott’s outside dining area is an absolutely sun trap, so was the perfect option to soak up some sunshine while we had a bite to eat.
In what we’re sure is one of Swindon’s hidden gems, the quiet and leafy outside area of the Cast Iron Bar & Grill is an absolutely perfect destination for anyone who wants a quiet drink, light lunch, a coffee and a catch up with friends and much more. It’s hard to think that this idyllic spot, which features a well-kept lawn and flowers as well as deck chairs and a pagoda to sit on, is just a few minutes walk from Old Town’s iconic Wood Street.
So what did we have?
I went for the Harissa Chickpea Burger. It was presented beautifully and had the flavour to match. The chickpea patty had crunchy cucumber and cabbage to balance the burger out and was served alongside my all-time favourite side dish – sweet potato fries.
Here’s what the rest of the team had to say about their meals:
“The Classic Cast Iron Burger was extremely tasty, loaded with plenty of delicious bacon, salad and cheese. The chips were equally as delicious, cooked to perfection and the whole meal went down a treat!”
“I had the Pulled Beef Quesadilla with BBQ sauce and cheese, it was absolutely delicious, the perfect amount for a light lunch and the sour cream and salsa dips complimented it perfectly.”
“The Turkey & Bacon Club Sandwich was a fantastic, fresh lunchtime bite. With juicy Turkey and crispy bacon which was complimented with the fresh lettuce and beautifully toasted bread, each of the ingredients perfectly married together, especially with the tempting side of crisps it was served with.”
On top of the food itself, it’s the little things that put Swindon Marriott further up our list of must-visit al fresco lunch spots: the service is always fantastic, the venue itself is always immaculately clean and as we approached out pre-booked table, there was a tidy place setting and a couple of jugs of iced water with fresh fruit in them. Just the remedy for a warm day working up a thirst in our meeting.
Don’t believe us? Here’s a shot of just how stunning the setting was. We hope you go and check it out yourself very soon!
