Forza Italia! Rustico Opens its Doors in Swindon

A new Italian restaurant combining rustic cooking methods and traditional values has opened its doors in Swindon.

Formerly Mr. Mok and Buffet Nation, 96-97 Commercial Road has been given a radical overhaul. Adorned with contemporary decor and urban furnishings the interior of the restaurant has been transformed into a sleek and stylish pizzeria. 

Rustico Owner, Justin Britchford explained "We've had to do a fair bit of re-modelling to turn the venue into something that we were proud of. It's taken a lot of time and effort but I believe that all of the hard work has paid off.

We wanted to create an environment where diners could enjoy great food in a laid-back, family friendly environment and I'd like to think that we've succeeded. If I were to compare ourselves with anyone on the market already, it would be Zizzis or Pizza Express but that's not to say that we're not totally unique or the same as any Italian already in Swindon."

Dishes on the menu range from Italian classics such as penne arrabiata and lasagne to hearty salads and handmade stone baked pizzas. 

"One of Rustico's unique selling points is how we've managed to blend the old with the new, take our Skinny Pizzas for example, served on a wholemeal base, the centre of each has been replaced with a salad. We're also proud to offer 'create your own' pizzas and salads. When dining with us, we want to give the customer has much choice as possible."

Restaurant manager, Peter Everad added "When people come through the door, it's like they're coming into my home - the team and I will always look after them the very best that we can."

Rustico is open Monday-Sunday, 11:00 - 23:00. As well as eating in, diners can also opt for a takeaway service too. 

When quizzed about what was good on the menu, head chef Massimo Merola concluded "I'd recommend all of the dishes, if didn't like them all, I wouldn't be serving them."
