Chiseldon House Hotel

As a resident of Swindon for over fourteen years, I have never had reason to visit the Chiseldon House Hotel. However, having spent a day remote working from the Grade II listed country house, it would seem I have been missing out.

Set in the Marlborough Downs and boasting three acres of grounds Chiseldon House Hotel is a delight in more ways than one. A short distance from Swindon’s town centre, this hotel offers a conveniently located country retreat with twenty-one individually styled bedrooms and a rosette winning Head Chef at the kitchen’s helm.

A scenic meeting place for friends and business associates, the hotel is open daily to visitors and guests for a coffee date or dining experience. With all menus offering a carefully selected choice of dishes made from seasonal and locally sourced produce – Afternoon Tea starts at £20 per person, the main lunch course at £14.50 and main dinner course at £15.95.

As a visitor, I particularly appreciated the table service provided by the dedicated professional staff whose timing was impeccable with their provision of refreshments and sweet treats. An experience which can be enjoyed for free in the month your birthday occurs by joining the VIP Birthday Club which entitles you to a free three-course evening meal when dining with at least one other paying adult. A perfect excuse for an intimate birthday dinner. Or for those looking to hold a large group celebration.

Chiseldon House has a variety of rooms which can be booked for private, business and conference functions. It is also a resident wedding venue which can cater for up to 120 guests. On my visit, I found the courtyard a particular highlight alongside their light, airy rooms and period house features. For those looking to explore the possibilities of the hotel for a wedding, Chiseldon House’s next wedding fayre will be on Sunday 12th May, where twenty of the finest wedding exhibitors will be present along with live music and VIP goody bags on arrival.

Irrespective of your reasons, Chiseldon House, is well worth a visit for a weekend get- away, sumptuous Afternoon Tea or a la carte evening meal and one I would highly recommend. Because personally, the hotel served to cheer my Monday with its accommodating staff, warm atmosphere and sunlit spaces. And I, most definitely will be making a return visit, but next time with family to sample more of the chef’s decadent chocolate brownies and dishes while basking in the hotel’s scenery.
