People sometimes ask my advice on which camera to buy. I’m always happy to offer thoughts, although ultimately it’s down to the individual and how they would like to use their camera. There will be something which suits their needs.

The next stage, having bought the camera, is to use it. Many times, people have told me they have a nice camera but are unsure how to use the functions beyond automatic mode. The comments come from a range of people, from those hoping to take the best family portraits, to professional bloggers wanting to improve their social media presence with better images.

As well as offering photography tutoring to support students studying the subject, I also run individual classes for people looking to work on their camera skills.

Focussing on the art of using a camera to make photographs, we work together in my studio. From a single class to multiple lessons, we learn at your pace and cover a range of topics from the functions of your camera, to how to use both artificial and natural light in photography, and ways of posing people and pets to create the perfect image.
