We recommend
1/ Christmas light switch on
When it comes to Christmas light switch on, here in Swindon we are fortunate to have not one, but two, with both the town centre and Old Town both offering an opportunity to participate in this annual event.
Each year Wharf Green’s celebrations become bigger and better, with great acts, music and firework displays. And we believe this year will not disappoint.
2/ Outdoor ice-skating rinks
There is no better way to spend the season than a spin on an outdoor ice-skating rink followed by a warming hot chocolate or mulled wine. Tis the season, so wrap up warm and embrace the opportunity to demonstrate your skating skills.
3/ Christmas markets and fayres
Christmas markets and fayres serve two purposes, by providing both entertainment and the chance to buy Christmas gifts for loved ones. Swindon offers an assortment of Christmas markets and fayres leading up to the day.
Our favourite is the STEAM Museum Christmas Fayre which not only includes gifts, but entry to our town’s iconic museum.
4/ Father Christmas meets
Christmas is not complete without a trip to meet the big man himself. Father Christmas services have now expanded and include but are not limited to; storytelling sessions, breakfasts and lunches. Discover all of the Christmas events in Swindon here!
5/ B is for booking
Each year the Christmas season celebrations seem to begin earlier. If after all the seasonal activities the prospect of catering for the family conjures up images of escape to far flung climes, why not dine out this year opposed to in. But, remember when it comes to booking it is essential to book ahead.
