1. Apprentices have a great amount of passion for what they’re doing.
When apprentices have chosen the role they want to be in, they have a great amount of passion for the subject and they strive to achieve - which makes them incredibly hard workers. As apprentices are working towards a qualification too, it is within their own interest to do well in the company, so you are always guaranteed this from them.
2. Learning is easy for apprentices.
Most apprentices have finished their GCSES and A Levels (or equivalent) by this point, and therefore are used to learning brand new concepts, ideas and techniques. This means they are already in the routine and are prepared for anything new they need to learn or grasp quickly. Generally, they slot into a company easier than adults would which is exactly what you need when you're taking on a new member of staff.
3. Allowing apprentices into your business gives them a fantastic start to their career.
It can be scary to finish your education and jump straight into a full-time job. So by offering young people the opportunity to complete an apprenticeship with your company, they are getting the best of both worlds as they will be half learning and half working – which creates a much easier transition.
4. Younger voices often bring new ideas to the table.
As mentioned above, these young adults have been learning every single day for almost their entire lives so far and have a mind filled with new, valuable and up to date ideas which will be highly appreciated within your business. Giving them the opportunity to share their ideas will not only boost their confidence and make them feel valued, but it will also help your business. It’s a win-win!
5. Apprentices have so much potential!
Too often, young people aren’t taken seriously enough when it comes to business due to having less experience than older people – but usually, they are bursting with ideas to bring to the business and would love to help make improvements. They deserve as much as a chance as anyone else would!
So if you’ve been mulling over the idea of taking on an apprentice at your company…now is the time to bite the bullet and look more into it – because as you can see from the reasons above, they’re incredibly valuable to a company!
