We chatted to Business Consultant, Rikki Hunt about his success advising SMEs in Swindon and what he can do to help you and your business.

You’re the head of Rikki Hunt Associates, tell us a little bit more about your business?

Everything we do is focused on creating increased profits through inspired teams with dynamic strategies’ resulting in a secure future and less stress.

Because we have worked at the highest level of the corporate business world and run our own businesses we know the highs, lows and stress that running a business can bring and the right solutions a business your size needs.

What inspired you to set up your business?

I have been working as a business advisor for some years and became aware that what makes me different from many others in the market is the uniqueness of my varied experience having been at the top of the corporate ladder and having conceived, funded, created and run my own businesses. When I asked clients why they did not use more consultants the feedback was around trust and experience.

I saw a need to put together a group of highly experienced consultants covering the fields that most mid sized company’s need

What advice would you give someone going into a leadership position for the first time?

To be a great leader you need to move from COMMANDER to INFLUENCER. Let your team know what you want and let them work out how to do it.

What’s the biggest challenge facing business leaders today?

The challenges today are no different than they were yesterday. Quality leadership skills are still in short supply and yes they can be learnt

What makes you a good sales person?

Confidence, clear communication, belief in product, persistence, and knowing the goal is not to close the sale but to open a future sales funnel.

What’s been your biggest achievement to date?

Wow, what a question? Personally, my family. I have two sons, a stepson and a stepdaughter who I am immensely proud of, I’d like to think I have had some influence there.

Professionally every thing I have ever done. I do not believe in success and failure because success is a personal state of mind and failure is death. I believe in winning and losing and am proud of my track record.

When you’re not busy running your business, how do you like to spend your down time?

If down time is relaxing then any physical or mental activity relaxes me. I love to walk, climb, ski, exercise, travel, watch sport, eat, drink & debate…
