TECH FIRM TO RUN CHILDREN’S ‘BUILD A PC’ WORKSHOPS IN AID OF THE MENTAL HEALTH CHARITY MIND

Local tech solutions company, Black Nova, has announced more dates for their popular “Build A PC’ children’s workshops to inspire kids about tech while also raising funds for the mental health charity, MIND.

The workshops, which are aimed at children aged ten to 16, will run between September and Christmas to coincide with the start of the new school year. The team first ran three workshops earlier in the year and they were booked out within hours. 

Black Nova founder Kyle Holmes said: “This is something I’ve always wanted to do as I was always fascinated by tech and gadgets growing up. When we ran our first workshops they were booked out very quickly and this has shown us that there is an appetite for this. We ask parents to come along and stay for the duration of the event.”

Children attending the workshops will learn about the different components of a PC and how to build a working machine. All attendees will receive a certificate signed by Kyle, to evidence they have completed the workshop. 

Entrepreneur Kyle (30), who started Black Nova with his wife, Danielle Holmes, has been fascinated by technology since he was very young, and is passionate about instilling that passion in the generation that he says will see tech innovation “grow at an even greater rate than we’ve witnessed over the last 20 years.” 

“I believe it’s vital to foster not only an enthusiasm in kids for tech but also a comprehensive understanding of it. We want to do whatever we can to help young people feel confident in their abilities to keep up with the changes and become part of the future of an IT-led world.” 

Kyle said: “I see these workshops as an opportunity to give something back. We really want to raise much-needed funds for MIND whilst also making the workshops accessible to everyone.”

MIND is a mental health charity that offers vital advice and support to anyone suffering from a mental health problem, through their support phone-line, legal advice phone-line and information resources. They also campaign to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding. 

The workshops will take place at Black Nova’s premises in Calne on Saturday September 10, October 8 and November 12.
