Old Town Business Association Hosts AGM
This past Monday evening the Old Town Business Association (OTBA) held their Annual General Meeting, hearing from local businesses and residents about how they can better serve their community.
The OTBA is a collection of volunteers made up of local business owners and Old Town residents who give up their time to lobby the council for the betterment of Old Town, run popular events like the Sausage and Ale Trail and the Christmas Lights Switch On, and concentrate on driving more and more people in to the historic Old Town.
On a warm and sunny Summer evening, DESK co-working space, above The Core Juicery, was filled with local people eager to hear what the Association had to say and, equally, have their voices heard.
Among the chief topics of discussion were parking, feedback from events, litter picking services and getting CCTV across the ‘square mile’ between Wood Street, High Street, Newport Street and Devizes Road.
Having sat in on the OTBA Committee meetings, which happen on the first Monday of everyone and you’re more than welcome to come along to, I’m proud to say that Old Town is in very good hands. With representatives from key local business – who also live in the local area – as well as councilors regularly attending, their influence has been growing steadily for a number of years.
If you’d like to have your say on anything to do with Old Town make sure you join their Facebook Group and have your say. In the mean time, check out our Total Guide to Old Town.
