MY TOP THREE AUDIO SOLUTIONS FOR VIDEO CONTENT MARKETING

So you've secured your shiny new camera and you can't wait to start producing your video content, now let's start thinking about how you're going to record that super-sweet, crisp sound.

Now the way you capture audio is very much specific to the project that you are taking on. Recording with one particular type of microphone might not necessarily suit the situation that you are in, so this is where you may need to carefully select where you invest your money depending on your type of project. Much like before, below I have detailed my top three picks across a variety of price ranges to help steer you in the right direction. Once again, for ease of navigation I have added links to an online shop for each one so give them a click!

  1. BOYA BY-WM6: £134

This entry level wireless microphone system is a great place to start before you start delving too deep into the more expensive gear. However, like with everything, you get what you pay for. These microphones are good, they capture your audio consistently and and have a decent range for which they can operate between the transmitter and receiver. They do lack however is pick up sensitivity even though they do boast a wide range of active frequency range. It just takes a bit of playing around with before you get that sound that you're after and maybe a bit of tinkering in post to get it right. On the whole, great for recording interviews in a controlled environment, may not be so great if you're out and about in less than ideal conditions

  1. RODE VIDEOMIC PRO: £138

A fantastic 'shotgun' microphone, a popular choice with many Vloggers in the YouTube space. Easy to use, versatile and with a great pick-up range and high quality sound, this microphone gives you the flexibility and the quality all in one bundle. You will likely be able to get great sound in a range of conditions, if you're looking to film and record audio outside in windy conditions you may want to consider a 'Deadcat'. Don't worry it's not what it sounds like. You know those fluffy things you see on the microphones on TV? That's a 'Deadcat'. They just reduce the amount of wind 'noise' to help you give a more clear sound outdoors. On the whole a great 'all-rounder' that performs in a range of situations, my go-to for many videos.

  1. RODE-LINK FILMMAKER KIT: £245

Taking your video content to the next level? I got you covered! This is a smashing piece of kit. Great pickup range and fantastic quality of audio gives this Microphone incredible value for money.

Along with the wireless capabilities gives you a wide range of uses in a wide range of situations. If I'm honest, I can't really elaborate on this much more than if you're serious about your video content, this will give you the quality and the versatility to consistently make great content day in day out.
