What are your plans for July in your business?
There is a strong focus on website optimisation and improvements, including SEO, outreach, and customer user experience, to bring new and returning users to our job site service.
What are your personal plans for this month?
I have travelled out to Greece with my family for a nice break, staying at the fabulous Sani resort… it’s well worth the quarantine period!
Does July hold any particular significance for you or your business/organisation?
Yes, a massive one. It is 20 years since I started my first limited company business, although it was actually registered on the 17th of August 2001! I eventually sold that business to Bain Capital a few years ago.
July 19 has been dubbed ‘freedom day’ what things will you be looking forward to in business and life that you’ve had to put on hold?
The main one in life is returning to football matches. I have really missed going to Anfield!
July is often associated with sport in the UK – with other events like the British Open (golf) and also Wimbledon? How important is sport to you in your life or business?
Sport is extremely important in my life. I’ve missed attending Liverpool matches and as a keen amateur motorsport driver in a BMW sponsored by all my businesses. It will be nice to see crowds return at race days!
On a much lighter note – July 17 is World Emoji Day and this often trends on social media. What do you think of emojis?
I do indeed, love using emojis. Not sure if there is one for ‘wtf is this person a muppet or what?!
Can you name one business you’d like to give a summer shout out too?
There is a charity I would like to give the shout out to. I support The Outward Bound Trust who have persevered in the face of massive adversity since lockdown. They help young people and are needed now more than ever.
Have you got any events planned for the coming months which you’d like to mention – where you will take a leading role?
I have been asked to do a talk at Lancaster University in the autumn to business MSc students and alumni about my business journey and entrepreneurship.
