My Back To Business Strategy
By Louise Williams, co-founder of Top Blog Coaching. The company audits blogs to highlight improvements, offer 1-2-1 coaching and manage blogs for busy businesses.
Summarise how Covid-19 has affected you?
It actually kick-started our business! Both successful bloggers in our own right, Emma Bradley and I decided to set up Top Blog Coaching during lockdown and it has been hugely rewarding already.
What has been your plan?
We are helping businesses back on their feet through the power of online presence optimisation. Blogging should be a key weapon in your online marketing strategy as a company.
As it didn't even exist at the start of lockdown, things have changed immeasurably. We have a lovely new website and some fabulous clients already.
As lockdown eases what measures have you put in place to get back to business?
We will be able to do some of our 1-2-1s face to face for local people, which will be exciting but we can also utilise the skills we used in lockdown, like Zoom for meetings.
What has been the most challenging aspect of all of this?
It has been hard not seeing Emma face to face as we are used to spending a lot of time together. Also, dodgy internet connections making meetings glitchy, a universal problem I think! We have made it work though!
What has been the most positive aspect?
The fact that we have been so well received. We knew that we were onto a great idea and that we can really make changes for businesses but it's lovely that other people can see the merit too.
Has it made you consider how you feel about other businesses/suppliers/customers/clients for good or otherwise?
I have always loved supporting local initiatives and have been blown away to see the amazing creativity people have used to keep their businesses afloat and make them work in a time of crisis.
How important is this phrase to you – ‘buy local, supply local’?
Very, airmiles, helping the community, supporting a single person who does a happy dance at each sale and great quality. Small businesses work so hard and need our support now more than ever.
What are your top tips at this time?
1. Have a blog on your website and invest time in it.
2. Network with other businesses in your field.
3. Help and support each other with ideas and try and utilise all the help available to help you back on your feet.
Your parting thought?
Although it has been a truly terrible time for business, it really has been incredible to watch the inventive ways that people have rebranded, created a delivery service and kept going.
The sense of community has really strengthened and if everyone keeps on in the same spirit, it will make for a much brighter future.
