Your Total Guide To Business

My Back To Business Strategy

By Kerrie Rycroft, creator of the CASH method for profitable online courses. I teach service based business owners how to create a signature online course which can bring them in a new stream of income, help more clients and earn more money all without having to work more hours.

Summarise how Covid-19 has affected you?

I've had a lot more interest in working with me as more and more businesses realise that the old ways of working (face to face) are not as easy any more.  However on the flip side of things, being a single mum homeschooling four children through lockdown meant that I didn't have enough hours in the day.

I spent some time back in maintain mode, putting in 2-3 hours work a day on the business to keep the passive income side of things running but have not done as much consultancy or 1-2-1 work .

What has been your plan to continue?

My plan now has been to repackage my offers and concentrate on the scaleable ones, I can deliver my online courses and group coaching products more easily than the Done For You and higher investment 121 coaching so that is where I am focused.

How has business changed for you over the last few months?

I've had to learn to be more adaptable than ever in juggling four children at home all the time as well as running three businesses and looking after four  horses and three dogs!

My boundaries have strengthened and I have got a lot better at planning.  I built myself an office in the garage so that I could have my space, I'm used to working from the dining room table while the children are at school!

As lockdown eases what measures have you put in place to get back to business?

I've decided that I actually really enjoy this way of working and am going to adopt it as my new normal.  The children may well stay homeschooled from September, who knows?

What has been the most challenging aspect of all of this?

Personally not being able to see family and clients in person.  From a business side I think dealing with all of the enquiries from people who were panicking and not really in a position to work with me was challenging at the start.

What has been the most positive aspect?

New slower pace of life, consolidating my offers, realising that I can raise a family, run a six-figure business in two to three  hours a day and not lose my mind (well not fully!)

Has it made you consider how you feel about other businesses/suppliers/customers/clients for good or otherwise?

I'm definitely making different choices about who I work with, local suppliers who have really stepped up during this crisis are going to be part of my future.

I think this has shown a lot of people's true colours, I am loving working with the people who have shown up and said "right this is a disaster for me how can you help me make it better?" rather than those who are not taking action.

How important is this phrase to you – ‘buy local, supply local’?

Honestly, my gut reaction says it's not that important but then my head says it should be.  I think that my business has most of its customers in different countries due to what I sell.

I would love to be able to work with more local businesses to show them what they can do and how their business models can change but there seems to be a lot of resistance.

What are your top tips at this time?

1 - Look at your business and see if there is an opportunity to work with your customers in a different way, what services or products could you make into online products that can be sold easily?

2 - Now more than ever it's really important to love who you work with so be keenly aware of who your ideal client is, what you do for them and how that makes them feel, emotion is everything in sales.

3 - Keep going.  If something doesn't work then try again, don't give up!

Your parting thought?

Life and business are always going to throw challenges at you (maybe not all 2020 type challenges, but still!) so more importantly than that is happening to you is how you react to it.

Be flexible, be positive, be prepared to go the extra mile and never stop trying.
