HIGHWORTH HAIR SALON NOW HAS A FUTURE STAR ON THE TEAM

A HIGHWORTH based young hairdresser has scooped a top national prize that marks him out as one to watch!

Jordy Barlow, 24, from Karoliina Saunders Hair Design in Sheep Street, Highworth won the Fantastic Future Star award at the Fantastic Hairdresser Business Awards held recently in London.

This is the second year the awards have been running and Jordy decided to enter as he is so passionate about how much hairdressing has benefited every aspect of his life.

He said: “After struggling to find the right career path, I knew as soon as I started hairdressing that I had found the perfect job.

“Not only does being a hairdresser mean I can be creative, it also allows me to be myself because it is a very non-judgemental industry where everyone is accepted no matter who they are, or where they have come from.”

Jordy’s honest award entry explained how hairdressing has given him increased confidence and allowed him to come out as gay. His story clearly impressed the judges who decided he had the skills, personality and drive to be awarded the Future Star title.

Having reached the finals of other national and local competitions, winning the award was an amazing experience for Jody who has spent the last year doing more stage and show work alongside his regular salon commitments.

He added: “Over the last 12 months I have really upped my game and been involved in many high profile hair events both alongside my boss, Karoliina Saunders, and on my own.

“It’s been an amazing experience to be in front of audiences wanting to see my work and hear my story, so winning this award could not come at a better time.”
