HELLO 2021 & GOODBYE 2020!
By Caroline Peyton, nutritional therapist and naturopath who has been supporting and empowering individuals to reach their health goals. She has clinics in Swindon and Cirencester.
As the year starts to turn – how are you feeling about 2021?
I’m ready to leave 2020 behind and have a fresh start, as I’m sure many others are too. Whilst I was lucky to continue working throughout the year I certainly did not rest on my laurels and worked extremely hard to create new products and services and promoting my business.
What are your business goals for the coming year?
I wish to expand my reach and offer different types of services that are available for a wider sector of the population. This year I created a video course and I plan to record a second. I ran an online 14 day nutrition programme recently and will run my second in February.
Will you be introducing any new products or services?
I am hoping to launch a membership group in the Spring. I am passionate about providing straight forward, accurate and informative nutrition and lifestyle information to help busy professionals live their best life. As a Naturopath it will have an emphasis on gut and digestive health as “Health starts in the Gut”!
Will you be looking to employ any new staff during the new year?
Clients come to me for my expertise and experience so whilst I won’t employ staff directly I will continue to work with others and sub-contract some activities to support my business.
Are you looking to invest in yourself as a business owner or company director in 2021 in any way?
This is a key part of my business. I continuously undertake CPD (continuous professional development), keeping abreast of the latest scientific research in the areas of nutrition and health. As a gut health specialist there is an enormous amount of research around the gut microbiome and human health that I follow. I have invested heavily in my business this year and will continue to do so in 2021.
Looking back across 2020 – name three highlights for you and your business?
1. Reaching an important milestone - 10 years in business.
2. Launching my online video course ”The 5 Step process to Relieve your IBS”. This is a low cost self help course utilising my years of clinical experience to help many who suffer from IBS and other digestive symptoms,
3. Being recognised as an expert in my field. I have been asked to contribute a number of articles to the media both online and in print, including the Daily Express and Woman and Home.
Looking back across 2020 – were there any lowlights?
2020 was the year I intended to grow my corporate wellbeing workshops. Having delivered many workshops over the years I was finalising new programmes for the business sector to support wellbeing in the workplace. With the Spring lockdown I put those plans on hold and focused instead on developing my video course and growing my online and media presence as an expert in digestive and gut health.
Who, in your business community – have been the shining stars of 2020?
1. Media consultant & journalist Fiona Scott, and one of the Total Guide to writers, is an inspiration. Such a positive lady who motivates me and has helped me enormously with my PR efforts.
2. Gwen Warren for her tireless work inspiring nutritional therapists to step up in the business world.
I mention these two ladies in particular as it can be a lonely place running a nutritional therapy business. It takes three to four years to qualify (and I continued with naturopathy training too). It’s in-depth rigorous training- harder than my degree- but there was little if any business support when I first graduated 10 years ago. These ladies have really helped me be focused on my business.
Any special offers for 2021 you’d like to mention?
For January I am offering my 30 day Reset Programme to get your health back on track with a £50 discount. Small attainable goals and reset lasting good habits, I am offering a unique one hour with me - “10 Steps to Health” Hour for £60. In 60 minutes I’ll provide 10 steps you can take to improve your health personalised to your own needs. With 10 years of experience you have so much to gain and nothing to lose!
