We all have done it, used our personal phone or tablet for work email. But as an organisation can you afford the data loss, if your staff misplace their phone?

Recently I have been asked this a lot during data compliance visit, as the simple answer is no.

Your organisation should be taking formal recorded measures to ensure that if staff are using personal phones that the email client and ideally the whole device are protected. For those of you who’s organisation use Office 365 or exchange, this is easily achieved, your policy should be that staff only are allowed to use the Outlook App and not any other client, this requires the user to authenticate with a pin or fingerprint prior to opening.

Simple measures like this can ensure your business meets its GDPR compliance and minimises data loss.
