A seminar focused on planning a business sale will kick off the new autumn programme of popular networking events in Swindon.

The networking meetings and seminars are all free and are run by chartered accountants Banks BHG at their Stratton offices, attracting dozens of businesses from Swindon and the surrounding area.

 

The seminar on planning a business sale takes place on September 21, featuring three specialist speakers, including Banks BHG director Neil Elsden.

 

“Selling a business is potentially a life-changing event, especially for those who have set up a business from scratch, watched it grown and nurtured it to success,” he said. “When the time comes to sell, it is critical to get the right result. Even for those who are just starting a new business but have visions of someday selling it, there are several things to consider – it’s always a good idea to have an eye on the endgame.”

 

Neil will be joined by Sue Green, partner at specialist corporate finance advisers Watersheds, and Darren Pearce, of independent financial advisers Chase deVere.

 

Topics covered will include identifying the right time to sell, the importance of careful planning and preparation, the most common errors made when selling a business – and how to avoid them, and how to reinvest the proceeds from the sale.

 

The seminar starts at 5.45pm and is followed by a light buffet, as well as an opportunity to network.

 

Other events in the autumn programme include a networking breakfast on October 12; a seminar providing analysis of Chancellor Philip Hammond’s Autumn Statement; and a look at alternative investments, including the benefits of investing in wine.
