A Year Since Lockdown - Jamie Martin

Today we're talking to Jamie Martin who is managing director and founder of Correct Careers Coaching which offers modern sales training and is a sales strategy business. Correct Careers Coaching covers selling through social media marketing/prospecting, lead generation, new business conversion, client relationship management, negotiation, as well as a sales psychology programme.

March 23 marks a year since lockdown began and the reality of the pandemic hit the UK. What are your memories of that day? 

It felt like a movie – everything shutting down/stopping to a holt. A very sad and strange time.

Thinking back, how did you anticipate the way forward for your business over those first few days? 

The focus was to keep in contact with current clients and business friends – checking how everyone was and offering support where possible.

What actions did you take to save/change/pivot/support your business? 

1. I had co-created an e-learning sales course – enabling a subscription revenue model, as well as a reach to a global client market.

2. I had built new business relationships with other individuals and businesses locally and internationally.

Name any positive outcomes of the last year for your business? 

1. I had expanded my business reach to working with clients on a national/global basis via video conference.

2. My LinkedIn professional network grew to now over 12,000 connections and also 1,000 followers for my Correct Careers Coaching company page.

Name any positive outcomes for you personally over the last year?

1. I have upskilled in areas of business such as digital technology, social media, etc.

2. I had developed new habits to living/working differently which has had a positive impact on my well-being and lifestyle.

What do you most look forward to doing IN BUSINESS as we slowly move out of lockdown? 

1. To deliver my sales training in person and work with clients onsite.

2. To work with existing clients again, where work had stopped with these clients due to the impact of COVID.

What do you most look forward to doing IN YOUR PERSONAL LIFE as we slowly move out of lockdown?

1. To socialise more with family and friends.

2. To enjoy leisure and sports again.

What are your predictions for business generally in late 2021 into 2022? 

1. For business meetings to be conducted more in person.

2. Likewise, for networking events.
