Expert Helpdesk Advisor and Facilities co-ordinator

This is a dual role with responsibilities for our customer facing self build expert Helpdesk and, in addition, the coordination of our buildings upkeep and planned preventative maintenance programme.

Salary: Negotiable dependant on experience

Hours: 37.5 hours

Please note: This vacancy is available from Autumn 2017 (including a handover period) but due to the unique nature of the opportunity we are keen to hear from potential candidates now.

Part of a small, driven and dynamic, team you will help look after the NSBRC’s visitors who are typically undertaking a self-build, renovation or home improvement project and are seeking advice and support.The

NSBRC offers free, independent and impartial advice. You will be delivering irresistible customer service based on your own experience and knowledge of the various stages of a domestic building project.

In addition you will be responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the building and co-ordinate with exhibitors and marketing/design agencies about the installation (and removal) & upkeep of their display stands within the visitor centre. You will also have responsibility for ensuring we are fully compliant with Health & Safety requirements.

You will present yourself professionally and be confident talking to individuals or small groups at one time as well as a friendly telephone manner. You will be able to enter data quickly and accurately and have proficient knowledge/experience using Microsoft Office packages such as Word and Outlook email and be able to pick up bespoke IT systems quickly.

Due to the location of the Centre, your own transport is necessary. Free parking is available.

Primarily based at the Centre you may be required to travel to external events on occasion to represent the NSBRC. 

You must be completely prepared to roll your sleeves up and complete a wide range of tasks, for different teams, when needed. Above all you will have a fantastic attitude and be excited about our vision for the business and embrace our shared values.

The package offers a competitive salary, 22 days holiday plus bank holidays (pro-rata). The role may suit:

  • A current / previous designer, project manager or architectural technician
  • Someone who is ‘hands on’ with an excellent knowledge of building
  • Someone who has knowledge of building or factory maintenance
  • Someone in latter stages of professional career and looking for an exciting opportunity to share knowledge

 

Additional skills required

You must be great with customers and be confident in delivering presentations and guided tours to small groups (full training will be provided). Contacts within the building trade (such as building inspectors, architects, planning and building control) would be desirable.

The role requires a proactive, fast thinker who is prepared to take ownership and responsibility for projects. You must be both flexible and methodical in your approach. A knowledge of current Health & Safety requirements will be an advantage.
